AirHogs’ winning streak snapped at four

GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas – For the second time in as many starts, Grand Prairie AirHogs starter Lance Janke was a victim of zero run support, as lefty Devin Anderson and three Kansas City T-Bones relievers shut out the AirHogs 8-0 to start their series at QuikTrip Park on Thursday.

The AirHogs (5-3) had a threat in the bottom of the first, but Anderson (1-1) struck out Andres Rodriguez and Greg Porter with runners at the corners.

Kansas City (3-5) then took the lead in the second, getting a pair each of triples and singles to score two. Janke (0-2) held them off the scoreboard again until an unearned run in the sixth, but Grand Prairie never mounted much of a threat after the first.

The AirHogs’ two best chances came after a leadoff double in the fifth and with two on and one out in the seventh against reliever Steve Kent, but in each instance Grand Prairie could not find the big hit.

While the T-Bones bullpen threw three shutout innings, the AirHogs’ pen struggled in the eighth, allowing three walks, a hit batter and three singles as Kansas City scored five times to put the game to bed.

Notes: This was the T-Bones’ first trip to QuikTrip Park after the AirHogs went to CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City three times in 2011…The AirHogs are now 0-3 against lefty starters with only one run scored in the three games, while they are 5-0 against righty starters…Brian Myrow led the AirHogs with three hits, while Trent Lockwood notched half of the other four mustered by the AirHogs attack.
