J Willms was born in a little town called Palos Park, Ill., just outside Chicago. That is where he fell in love with baseball, particularly the Chicago Cubs.  After attending the University of Iowa and realizing that he was no longer able to play the game, he took a job with the Cook County Cheetahs of the Frontier League.

After one season he was offered a position with the Texas Rangers and his descent to the Lone Star State began.  After five seasons with the Rangers, Willms wanted to try and get back to what he truly loved, minor league baseball.

He hooked on with the AirHogs and has been with the team since its inception, and is now entering his fifth season with the club.

J resides in Grand Prairie with his wife and two dogs, Togo and Bosko.
