Robert Perry and Luke Prihoda came back to haunt their former teams, hitting and pitching the Shreveport-Bossier City Captains to a 5-3 victory over the Grand Prairie AirHogs at QuikTrip Park.

The playoff-bound Captains swept the three-game series and spoiled the AirHogs’ season finale. Shreveport-Bossier City will play Pensacola for the Southern Division championship.

After a promising start to the season the AirHogs struggled in the second half and finished with an overall record of 43-52. Shreveport-Bossier City won the first half and finished second behind Pensacola in the second half.

Perry went 2-for-4 with a double that turned into an inside-the-park play and Prihoda pitched six innings by allowing three runs and striking out four. Both players were traded to the Captains for money in return a week ago.

The Captains struck for two runs to start the game off Grand Prairie starter Daniel Schmidt. In fact it was 1-0 just five pitches as Bryan Sabatella led with a double down the third base line and former AirHog Robert Perry, who was traded to the Captains Aug. 10, beat out an infield hit moving Sabatella to third.

One pitch later Christopher Garcia lined a single to right to score Sabatella. Perry took third on the play and scored on Palmer Karr, Jr.’s ground out.

Michael Hollimon’s two-run home run off another former AirHog, Luke Prihoda,  in the fourth tied it at 2-2 but Perry hurt his former team again with a double down the right field line that ended up in a two-base scoring error. Perry easily scored following the errors to make it 3-2.

After the Captains made it 4-2 in sixth the AirHogs’ David Espinosa tripled to open the bottom of the sixth and later scored on Steve Carrillo’s single. Shreveport-Bossier City stretched it to 5-3 with another run in the seventh and the AirHogs threatened in the bottom of the eighth but failed to capitalized.

Ernie Banks singled and one out later Carrillo walked. Cody Merrill, however, it into an inning-ending double play.

Grand Prairie, TX.  The Grand Prairie AirHogs present a final line-up of HogWild entertainment and baseball action starting this Friday night when they take on the Shreveport-Bossier Captains for a three-game series.

An array of fun events and promotions including the third annual pre-game Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) Motorcycle Parade (August 28), and “Fan Appreciation- Clean Out The Closet Night!” (August 29).  The North Texas Recreation & Parks departments will invade QuikTrip Park on Friday night (August 27), and the third annual Organ Donor Awareness Night (August 28) will take place on Saturday Night.

 The 2-3-4 hitters of Pensacola lead the way in their 8-7 victory over the Grand Prairie AirHogs. C Lou Palmisano, 1B Javier Brito and DH John Alonso combined to go 7-for-13 at the plate with a home run (Brito), three RBIs and four runs scored.  Pensacola starting pitcher David Nathanson won his eighth game of the year and Pelicans reliever Scott Vanderweg collected the save.
